Northwest High School senior, Zackary Xavier Moreno, will be wearing cords during graduation for Varsity Athletics, Extra Curriculars and Fine Arts. At 15, he started cutting hair with a few of his buddies and it has driven him to his passion of becoming a professional barber. Upon graduation, he will be attending Barber school where his passion will help turn his career dreams into reality. Congratulations to Abby Mosley, daughter of Amy Mosley, Decatur Loan Assistant, on being awarded the Legend Bank Gordon E. Heard Excellence in Scholarship Award. This scholarship is presented annually to a graduating son or daughter of a Legend Bank employee or Director of Legend Bank that has demonstrated outstanding scholarship achievement and leadership qualities during their high school career. The scholarship was created to honor and show appreciation to Gordon E. Heard for over 40 years of service to the First National Bank of Bowie. Kallie Bilby, Branch Manager, and Sarah Haberman, Mortgage Loan Officer, NMLS ID 2317576, were excited to present the scholarship to Abby during the Decatur High School awards ceremony yesterday. Abby is graduating from Decatur High School. During the past four years she was Freshman Class President, Sophomore Class Vice President, and earned several awards playing softball. She has been a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Club, Future Farmers of America (FFA) Public Speaking Team, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Abby has enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing home and has volunteered at several events like Relay for Life, Samaritan's Purse Shoebox Drive, and Madi's Way Mental Health Organization. Abby plans to attend Austin College in Sherman where she has committed to play softball and to earn her master's degree in early education.
