In 1953, North Richland Hills was incorporated by a vote of 24 to 23.
Today, it is difficult to avoid working, living, shopping or dining in North Richland Hills (NRH) due to its central location and abundance of major roads. The City, approximately 19 square miles in size has over 45 miles of major roadways including Airport Freeway, Northeast Loop 820, Boulevard 26, Davis Boulevard, Precinct Line and Rufe Snow Drive.
North Richland Hills is the third largest city in Tarrant County and the largest city in Northeast Tarrant County. Over 66,000 residents and 1,200 businesses are attracted to the City’s low tax rate, central location, easy access, attractive neighborhoods, low crime rate and excellent schools.
NRH has 720 acres of park land, 19 miles of paved hike and bike trails, the award winning NRH2O Family Water Park, the Richland Tennis Center and the new NRH Centre that includes state of the art fitness equipment and indoor aquatics. In addition to the award winning Birdville and Keller ISDs, the City is home to Tarrant County College’s Northeast Campus, Fort Worth Christian College Preparatory School and St. John the Apostle Catholic School, Tarrant County's only Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School.
