The B.E.S.T. Committee (Business Education Success Team) supports and facilitates the annual BISD Teacher of the Year program by providing a selection committee to choose the top three district Teacher of the Year candidates.
The BISD Communications department sends applications to the individual schools, and one teacher of the year is nominated from each school. The Teacher of the Year committee reviews all the applications, and meets to determine the elementary, middle, and high school teachers of the year.
These teachers’ applications will be submitted to the Region 11 Service Center to compete for Regional Teacher of the Year, and winners at that level eventually compete for State Teacher of the Year. The Teachers of the Year are announced at the BISD Teacher of the Year Gala held in May, and attended by representatives of the B.E.S.T. Committee and Chamber staff.
